If you want you and your family to detach from the digital world for a spell of digital detox this summer then the recently created studio and environmental activities room at Springbank Skye self catering holiday cottage might just be the holiday choice for you.
This digital-free space features resources and information on fossil hunting, rock pooling, bird watching, mini-beast safaris, dragonfly hunting, star gazing, bat detecting and there’s fishing tackle as well. There’s books and guides with additional information about where and how to do the activities. There’s everything you need for a holiday filled with tech-free activities.
But, let’s get one thing clear – we DO have an internet connection at the house and guests have unlimited downloads during their stay so you’ll never be out of touch. The slow signal speed, however, is a major incentive to start a digital detox as is the lack of mobile phone signal in the village. Our wireless signal doesn’t reach the environmental activities room so getting the kids out there will cut them off from their wi-fi in a fairly painless way.
Hopefully, they (and you) will be enthralled with what’s on offer. Recreating your own childhood seaside holidays and enjoying time spent together is priceless. One of the reasons we added this space and filled it with exciting stuff to do is that we’ve always enjoyed Elgol and Skye because of the opportunities it offers to get closer to nature and, at the same time, do things together as a family that we wouldn’t usually do.
We hope you’ll think the same and we look forward to welcoming you to our special place where you can turn off the digital noise and reconnect with the natural world in Skye, one of the best places in Britain to enjoy amazing wildlife, stunning scenery and explore its rich geological past.
