Elgol is virtually surrounded by sea so it’s no surprise that it is one of Skye’s premier embarkation points for boat trips to a number of destinations. Elgol boat trips will take you to the truly stunning Loch Coruisk, set in the heart of the Cuillin Hills, and some of the nearby Small Isles, including Rum and Canna.
A trip across Loch Scavaig to the Cuillins is a memorable one. You’ll see seals at any time of the year and all sorts of other wildlife can be seen.
The freshwater Loch Coruisk is a short walk from the sea and is virtually surrounded by the high Cuillins with only a natural rock barrier betwen the river and sea.
The island of Rum is notable for Kinloch Castle and its Rum Cuillins. It is a National Nature Reserve with some incredible wildlife including red deer and an internationally significant population of Manx Shearwaters.
The nearby island of Canna has some good seabird populations and is a hot spot for basking sharks. Puffins nest on adjoining Sanday.
The small island of Soay has an interesting history associated with Gavin Maxwell and shark fishing.
Elgol boat trips sell their services far better than we can so visit their sites and see what is on offer.
