There are 12 mountains classified as Munro’s on the island. Eleven are on the main Cuillin Ridge and the 12th (Bla Bheinn – Blaven) is between Torrin and Elgol and so consider using Springbank Cottage located in Elgol as a base to go climbing Munros in South Skye.
From Elgol you can cross Loch Scavaig by boat to reach the base of the Cuillin Ridge where most of the Munros are.
How do you bag a Munro? What even is a Munro? All the hills in Scotland higher than 3,000 feet are deemed to be Munros – named after the man who first listed all 282 of them. Skye is a great place to bag a Munro. You’ll need to be sure of your abilities as a scrambler as even the easier peaks require putting hand to rock at times.
