Reasons to stay at Springbank on Skye

There are so many activities that you can do and the peace and tranquility of the place is reason alone to visit here.  Obviously we are biased but we think that Springbank Cottage is the perfect choice for a holiday in Skye! But don’t take our word for it check out the reviews that previous guests have given us.

The cottage is set among some of the most spectacular mountain and coastal scenery in Britain that provides ample opportunities for walking and climbing and the challenges for mountain biking are just awesome.  All that scenery needs to captured on camera and if you’re into photography why not sign up for a tuition workshop with one of the professional photographers on the island.

Surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Hebridean seas there are is a huge area to explore for sea kayaking as well as boat trips galore!   The pristine waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling – pack a wet suit, you can stay in longer.  There are several intertidal sandy areas on the shoreline, notably at Elgol, Kilmarie and Ashaig, near Broadford.

If you don’t want to cook every night Skye has some excellent restaurants which makes eating out a delightful experience. Check out the locally caught seafood which many places offer or buy and cook your own.

Simply unwinding and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of Springbank is a big factor in its appeal.  We have a large and mainly secluded south-east facing garden full of interesting plants that attracts variety of garden wildlife including carder bees, toads and short tailed voles. It’s a great place to chill out and enjoy the views to the Sleat peninsular and the distant mainland hills.  In the evenings light the wood burning stove and plan your next day’s exploration.

Red Hills across Loch Slapin in November

We are open all year round.  The winter time in Skye can be stunning and the hills take on a new look with a covering of snow. It’s well worth the trip. The house is really cosy and ideal for a short stay.
